Ruby For The Nuby

An early experiment in Ruby, prompted by my attendance at the down in Florida in the fall of 2001. It seemed then and still seems now that ruby will be a very effective first language for anyone learning software development.

A partial, early draft of An Introduction to Software Craftsmanship: Ruby for The Nuby edition is available. Many thanks for the feedback that has been received to date.

Although I did not make much progress with this, it did inspire some other activity in the Ruby Community, the rubyturtles project by Jim Weirich.

Ruby Turtles is a simple implementation of Turtle Graphics. This was inspired by Pete McBreen's talk on teaching OO principles using Ruby at An early version of Ruby Turtles was developed at the Ruby Bird of a Feather meeting at OOPSLA.
