Mainstream Software Development Books
These books are those that are typically catalogued and available in the Computing or Business section of bookstores. Mainstream might be stretching it a bit too far for some of the titles given that some are now out of print.
These books are typically not found in the computing section of bookstores, but I have found them very useful in clarifying and challenging my thinking about software development.
Books in these lists are organized chronologically, with the latest books being added at the top of the list.
I've not had time to comment on these yet, but they are all GREAT books for software developers.
The inmates are running the asylum, Alan Cooper
Extreme Programming Explained, Kent Beck (on the eXtreme Prgramming site)
